Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-10-11

PlayJoy is designed so that you can play without telling us who you are. This policy explains the small amount of data we do process and the choices you have.

What we collect

Anonymous identifier. When you first visit, we set a random identifier in a cookie so that your scores, streaks and ability profile can be attributed to the same player on the same device. It contains no name or email.

Game runs. When you finish a puzzle we store the game, date, level, score, duration, mistake count and the sequence of moves used for verification, together with the anonymous identifier.

Leaderboard name. Optional. If you type a display name it is stored and shown publicly on the leaderboard. Do not enter information you would not want published.

Subscription data. If you buy PlayJoy Pro, our payment processor Stripe handles your payment details. We receive a customer reference and subscription status, never your full card number.

What we do not collect

We do not require an account, email address or phone number to play. We do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell personal data.

Cookies and advertising

We use a functional cookie for the anonymous identifier and the Pro entitlement. Where advertising is shown, our advertising partners may set their own cookies to measure and limit ad frequency.

In the EEA, UK and other regions with consent requirements, non-essential advertising cookies are only set after you consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

Legal bases (EEA / UK)

We rely on legitimate interests to keep the service working, fair and secure — storing game runs and verifying scores. We rely on your consent for non-essential cookies and advertising. We rely on performance of a contract for Pro subscriptions.

Retention

Game runs are kept in aggregate form for ranking and statistics. Display names stay until you clear your browser data. Subscription records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting purposes.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to processing. Because we do not hold identifying details, we can usually action a request by deleting the anonymous identifier you send us.

To make a request, email the address below with the identifier shown on your My results page. We respond within 30 days.

Children

PlayJoy is a general-audience game site. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, and we do not knowingly show personalised advertising to them. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and contact

We use transport encryption, restrict administrative access and keep verification logic server-side. No online service is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the data we hold.
